Always Be Open to New Ideas

"Always be open to new ideas": That's what my fortune cookie said today. No, I didn't order Chinese food. I picked up my bridesmaid dress at the tailors. And the cookie was acutally given to JK, not me. So, anyone have any "new ideas" for me? I'm feeling blah (tired and icky, though not quite ill), and couldn't think of anything new to post (since I'm still not done the patio cushions), so I thought I'd show JK's current favourite thing in her bedroom. Every time I carry her in and out of the room, we have to stop by her dresser to point at this box and open and close it a few times. She loves it. I painted this box for her baby shower. Inside are some messages that the guests wrote (or scribbled in my niece's case) for JK. This is only one of two kinds of flowers I can paint. The other kind is pansies. I've painted boxes for each of my four nieces, so I figured I'd do one for JK as well. I must say that my technique and design have both drastically improved since the first one. I was 15 when my first niece was born. I just love the colour inside the box. It's a craft paint (I don't remember the brand) called "Adobe Red".

  2. I need some new ideas too! But what I really need is time to follow through with the ideas I have!

That box is adorable. I love the idea of having people write messages at a baby shower. I've never done that before, but I'll have to remember that.

I think if you really don't like the color in your bedroom you should paint. Paint is a reasonably inexpensive way to make a big difference. That's the one thing I do like about my bedroom and that I love the color I painted it.

  3. What a sweet idea! Both the message and the box. I think I'll try them both!

  4. What a cute little trunk- and a treasure JK will be able to hang on forever!!
I really enjoyed seeing the quilt that you finished- it turned out really well! I have tried quilting denim on a machine before and got frustrated from tangling thread and broken needles.....I switched and tried to do it by hand but ended up with bloodey fingers, calluses, and a quilt laying in the trashcan!! LOL!!! Last time I try that!
You will have to stop by my blog- I tagged you! I can't wait to see if you participate and get to know you better!!
Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and kind words regarding Bella and her surgery. They mean so much to me! Well, I survived Kyle being away for 3 days and three nights........it wasn't easy but he had a ball! Hopefully I won't have to be away from my kids again for awhile!!
