Party Favours and Decorations

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my two most recent posts. I'm glad you like that kind of post as well as my more creative ones. So for A's bridal shower, I got to do the favours and the table decorations. I also wrapped the door prizes, but I forgot to take a picture of them! The favours were really simple and inexpensive: Small pink candle in a glass holder, seashells from Dollarama, white gift bag, fake orchid (attached to a bobby pin for the guests to wear in their hair), rafia, and a couple of tags. This was the centrepiece of the food table: On Saturday, I went to Rona to buy my birthday gift from KD: Paint for the living room and hallway! I won't start painting until KD's CMA entrance exam is done on June 17. He doesn't need any extra upheaval right now. The guy who mixed my paint at Rona thought I was crazy for asking for grey primer to go under yellow paint. I read somewhere that grey primer is better under yellow and red paint because it stops the light from going through the translucent pigments and so it requires fewer coats...or something like that. Anyway, I wanted to give it a try! JK has started trying to put clothes on. She picks up something and puts it on her head and tries to pull so that her head goes through. Usually she doesn't have her head anywhere near the neck hole, so she gets frustrated. But we did discover a potential halloween costume for her! Just put her in one of KD's t-shrits, and she can be a ghost!

Oooh can't wait to see the finished livingroom. We painted our foodroom this last weekend in a butter yellow (pictures later this week).

  2. If I had to pick one word to describe you I would say, "enchanting" because even when you describe undercoats of paint I am fascinated. Don't ever stop blogging, I would miss you too much.

  4. The favors and centerpiece is beautiful!! Makes me feel like Hawaii!! You are so creative! I can't wait to see the finished paint job- I love yellow. Just a warning though- yellow is the hardest color to get right! But yes- the grey primer is supposed to be fantastic and help give you a more true- to- the- paintchip result!
Your baby is gorgeous! I just wanna kiss those cheeks! My kids have the kissable cheeks and I love it! Maybe moreso than they do!! he he he
Now you will have to get her some dress-up clothes!
When is your birthday?? Hope you have a great one!
    Have a great evening sweetie!

  5. Darla, the starfish aren't even mine! They belong to the bride's sister and her aunt. Your foodroom looks great by the way!

Ceall Na Sidhe, of course I'm going to do before and after pictures! I don't really have decorating ideas for beach/bamboo...when I visit we can figure something out for you. Want some of my driftwood?

Heather, shh, don't remind me about the difficulty of yellow paint! I'm trying not to think about it! I probably went through a hundred paint chips before I finally decided. My birthday was May 20. Yours is coming up, right?
