What should I do with this ugly spot?

I still have a cold, which means I'm coughing all the time, and I sound like "a cross between a frog with laryngitis and a country-western singer" (old-school Adventures in Oddessy fans may recognise that line). Now I'm pretty sure I have an ear infection, so I'm going to the doctor this afternoon. Trying to sleep last night was Unpleasant and Unsuccessful.
