Autumn Anticipation...and a Contest!

Oh I love the first cool crisp days of early fall! And that's what we're having now! We went to the lake on Saturday night, and I was freezing the whole time. I need to pull out my sweaters! This week Melissa at The Inspired Room is having a Fall Nesting Week, so I was inspired to redo the wreath on my door from neutral to more fall-inspired. Here is the before picture (read about it here): And this is what it looks like now: Please ignore the green painters tape on the inside of the glass. I really want to finish painting the inside of the door today, or at least this week. You know, I've never really decorated for fall before. I usually do something for spring or summer, but before this year I didn't ever do much seasonal decorating. In fact, I didn't really decorate my house at all until last spring. I probably won't go all out in gorgeous spectacular fashion like some of you with your dollar tree pumpkins and "spooky" decorations, but I want to do a few more fall things which I will of course post about. For example, I need to think of a replacement for my Summertime banner. It was inspired by the George Gershwin song that I love, but I don't know what word(s) to replace it with. I want something that conveys the warmth and coziness of home, but I don't know the exact words. Please comment with all the suggestions you can think of! Maybe I'll send a small prize to the winner? I think I'll do that. So if you leave a suggestion for what word or words to put on my new banner, make sure I have some way to contact you.

  2. Hey, thanks for being a part of Fall Nesting Week! I keep my decor pretty simple too. But I realized that I am "summerizing" my house from about April-August so Fall really needs to get a fair chance! If I don't start 1st of September, it gets crowded out by Christmas!

Great job on your wreath makeover!

    Happy Nesting!

  12. The wreath looks very nice! I don't do a lot of summer decorating, but I love to decorate for fall. That banner is so cute (I love that song too). Maybe for fall you could do "Autumn Blessings" or how about "Give Thanks" or which would be more Thanksgiving-ish.

  14. I like the mis-spelled words "Merrie" and "Jollie" for merry and jolly.

What about "A Merrie Fall" or "Abundant Autumn" ?

Meh. Looked better in my head.
