Last Minute

Last night at supper, I casually asked KD if he was planning to take JK over to his dad's house to go trick-or-treating with his little brothers, while I stay to man the door here. KD said yes, but then asked me what costume JK would be wearing. I said "just her clothes". I figured (and I've been telling people for weeks--including KD) that we wouldn't make a big deal of Halloween until JK is old enough to care. Well, that wouldn't do for KD. He told me that I had to go buy a costume. I didn't want to spend money on over-priced, cheaply-made costumes (which are the kind available around here), so I came up with something using only fabric I already had. I didn't have enough to make a full-body-covering costume, but I think JK will be more comfortable in just the shirt and hat. She's not fond of the hat though. This pink fleece-and-fur bunny costume took 1.5 hours to make, and cost zero dollars (my mom gave me the fabric several years ago). I made it big to fit over JK's coat, for the chilly Canadian fall/winter weather. It doesn't look like we'll have snow by tonight yet, but you never know.

  1. I love that tail on the back. HAHAHAHAH

Oh you're country has cheap, over priced costumes too? Good to hear we are keepin Halloween cheesiness on a level playing field. ;)

I have only bought on costume and I would never do it again. Homemade is the way to go.

  2. How cute is she???

Both my kids had "homemade" costumes this year. This is one of the first times I was able to talk my daughter out of those cheapie girlie costumes at Walmart. Whew.

  3. Jewel wore my wedding dress and a cloak and went as a vampire, I did her make up so well that Raven cried and was afraid to look at her, Raven was snow white, but her dress was to long and I didn't hem it short enough, and after walking through a few puddles, Raven got sick of it and asked me to take it off...LOL I guess I should be posting this in my soon as i get the pictures uploaded. :D

  4. Oh! and I love that blanket behind JK! ;)

  5. Hi Jo :)

JK looked so cute! What a great easy costume :)

I hope you had a fun Halloween!

  6. How cute and creative! I especially like the bunny tale in the back!! I made my daughter's costume this year. She wanted to go as a witch but since she is 4, I didn't have the heart for her to be a scary witch...therefore, she went as a harvest witch. I have pics on my blog if you get a chance to visit! :O)

  7. You are soooooooooooo talented!
    I wish I could sew.
My little sister went as a bunny one mom crocheted everything.

    She looks adorable.
