Dear Photograph Double

I came across the photograph below on Dear Photograph.

And I thought, "Whoa, those people look really familiar!  Especially the man.  So I dug out a photo I have of my ancestors.  For the life of me, I can't remember who they are, except that they are probably from my mom's family. (Can you refresh my memory Mom?)

I don't think the woman is the same, but the man looks eerily similar, down to the mustache and the ears sticking out and the shape of his eyes.

What do you think?

Edited to add: These two people are my great (great?) grandparents on the Rassmussen side.  Thanks for clearing that up Grandpa!

  1. I love to see pretty and unique things also. I glimpse at your blog when I can; to see what's new. I was really interested in this article on "Dear Photograph". I went to the website and was inspired. I remember one time my brothers and I saw that our kids all had jean jackets on one day so we took a picture (they ranged in age from 2 to 7). Then 10 years later we took a similiar picture of them standing in the same room with jean jackets on. They are prized photo's for our families.

  2. The other photo is so tiny it's hard to tell. I think people always used to pose so formally that often they look similar just because of that. :) I love looking through older photographs, especially when my grandpa gets out pictures from his youth to show me, or the ones that I collected of my mom's family (since I never met her parents).

  3. Hmm..I can't see the other one because it's so tiny, but they certainly look alike. I hope you can find out. Very cool!

  4. Just to clarify...I don't actually think they're the same person ;-) I just thought it was funny they look alike.

  5. Oh my goodness how crazy is that!! Love it. I'm loving your blog!! New reader :)

  6. Haha, they look very similar! I love old photographs :)

  7. Separated at birth perhaps? Don't you love looking at old family photos even if you don't really know who they are. I'm heading over to Dear Photograph to check it out. It sounds intriguing.

  8. HA HA HA! 100 years from now, people will all think that we all looked the same too. Do you ever think about how things will be different 100 years from now? I can't even imagine!! Those people would be shocked at our world today. Time travel...now there's a fun topic...
