Spring Means Wellies!

Of course, it's technically still winter for one more week, but it feels like spring with the warm sunshing filtering through the curtains of our south-facing livingroom windows.  This whole winter has felt like spring, except for the one or two days of -30 weather.

I've been on the lookout for some pretty rain boots for myself.  Prettiness is mandatory!  I plan to take the kids out for some long splash-filled walks this spring and I'd rather not get cold wet feet.

The lovely Leanne from Apple Box Boutique sent me this picture this morning.  She knows my love of boots and knew I'd understand how she feels about her new favourite wellies:

I love the colours and the paisley pattern!  I'd better get out there and find myself some boots quickly before the snow puddles are all gone!  My front yard is already snow free, and today on the way home, I bought a pair of pruners at a season-defying garage sale!

Leanne has something else to share with us today!  She's giving away three sets of tickets to Edmonton's Home and Garden show, which runs March 22-25.  Head over to Apple Box Boutique's blog to enter!

If you don't win in that giveaway, I'll be giving away a pair of tickets here too, so stay tuned!

Sorry for not posting yesterday.  I try not to skip a day so I can hurry up and announce the winner in my 500th post!  (This is post #485 by the way)  Yesterday was kind of a crazy day.  I brought snack to our Tuesday morning moms' group, leaving the kitchen a mess because of course I would be home at noon to clean it up, right?  But as soon as I got home, I had a message from my Papa saying my mom was in the hospital (back pain issues).  So I scrambled to find childcare (thank you so much Sherisse, you're an angel as always!) then headed over to the hospital to be with Mom.

Who knew waiting around could be so exhausting!  But I'm so glad I was there.  Emergency room nurses don't always have the time to adjust blankets and things for someone who can't move because of the pain, so I was able to help out that way, as well as providing conversation and company as needed.  I left around 8:15 PM when my brother arrived, stopping at Tim Horton's for some supper (I hadn't had lunch either).  But my reward was a free coffee!  Rrrroll up the Rrrrim came through just when I needed it!

Today I went to my mom's place to do some cleaning for her, then stopped by the hospital with the kids to visit for a little bit.  I'm so glad I don't have to cook supper tonight!

Remember that every comment on any post is counted as an entry in the Vintage-Inspired Giveaway! Of course, feel free to comment even if you don't want to enter the giveaway! Make sure I have a way to contact you if you're the winner!

  1. Those are cute boots. I got myself a pair of lace-up rubber boots last spring... they are black, with teal toes, and go just above my ankle, and I wear them when it's rainy out here. I noticed there are WAY more rubber boots out here than I ever saw back in Alberta... maybe it's catching on more now, but I always thought rubber boots were for farmers and here everyone wears them around the city as a fashion statement. :)

  2. Hope your mom is feeling better today. Is she in the hospital, Jo?

I must admit I wondered where you had gotten to yesterday. Funny how quickly habits form - one of my best ones lately is reading your blog!!
