The Girl with the Pretty Life

Shortly after I linked my blog on facebook, one of my friends started to call me "The Girl with the Pretty Life".  But "To a Pretty Life" was not my first choice for a blog title.  Basically, I picked it because "A Pretty Life" and "My Pretty Life" were both unavailable on blogger.  And I also wished I could think of something more clever, or with a cute story behind it.  I didn't realise at the time that I could pick any blog title, it would just be my address that needed to be changed.

I want to get a domain name, to make it easier to tell people my blog address.  So if I want a name change, now would be the time!  I'd love to get your opinion, although I don't promise to go with the majority.  Please vote, even if you don't usually comment or if this is your first time visiting!  Leave any other suggestions in the comments!

  1. Sometimes things are serendipitous though....if you were A pretty life or THE pretty life I wouldn't remember you as well as TO A pretty life...I always thought it meant that "to a prett life" was where you were headed or what you intended your reader to aspire to and it makes me smile each and everytime I see your posts on my blogroll :)

    Dharma's 2 cents.

    1. Thanks for the suggestions! I love both options. It's going to be hard to finalise my decision! I'm afraid of commitment ;-)

  3. Looks like we all like your original title! I think it's cool... it implies a goal or a direction - you are heading towards a pretty life and working for that, even if it's not always like that now. I mean, who really has a pretty life? :) Just thinking aloud here. I have seen advice to bloggers that your title should be the same as your URL, though, to make it easier for people to find you again. So if you are going to change the title, I'd try to find the same domain name. :)

  4. Everyone is voting for your blog title right now! I love it. It makes me smile every time I visit. Isn't that what so many are striving for to surround ourselves with blessings :)

Thanks for making my life a little prettier today.

  5. I like "To a Pretty Life". It's unique. It's celebratory. It's inclusive of all areas of your life, not just decorating or literature or family. It's you!!

Now...if you'd all please raise your glass, I'd like to make a toast..."To Joanna!"

    1. You have eaten some of those raspberries, Jenn! They're the ones we picked last fall. I'm sure I used those in my raspberry-peach muffins I made for M2M a while ago.

  7. Since my blog name is so bad, I am the last person to ask. But I like either To A Pretty Life or just A Pretty Life. You've identified yourself with "pretty" and "life", why change it from that.

    1. Heather, I love your blog name! I think it hints at the process of turning a new house into a real home.

  8. Here's my half cent worth :) I like your blog name because it carries more than one meaning:

    - It is celebratory. Like "Cheers" or "Hurray"... a toast to life and all it's prettiness

    - It is hopeful, like most of us are, that tomorrow will be as pretty as or prettier than today.

    - It is determined. Striving toward something more... heading to a prettier life. It has a calm demeanor but a strong work ethic.

    - It is confident. The title encompasses being humble enough to know that there is always room for improvement yet being sure of your goal.

    - From what I understand so far, it is you, by nature. A lovely person who does their best every day. And that is darned pretty.

  9. I just read through the previous comments (perhaps should have done that before adding mine). So, to all the others who beat me to them... I agree and second your thoughts :)
