This afternoon, I took my blog completely apart, at least as well as I know how. I removed everything, and went back to the most basic version of the template. I'm trying to get rid of those two blue bars on the sides of my blog, covering up most of my nice new background. They appeared right around the time I changed my header to the raspberries. And they're driving me crazy! I can't get rid of them. Obviously, my work today didn't succeed. At least now they're only showing up on the main blog page, and not on the post pages. I think. Oh well. It could be worse. The blue is a nice enough colour.
After I put my blog back together (after an afternoon/evening with it in pieces, I apologise if you visited during that time!), I decided that my raspberry header was too bright. With the yellow background, blue stripes, and bright header, it was just looking too circussy for me. So I fixed it.
Original picture, straight from the camera (other than cropping and text, obviously):
I did the editing in Picasa as usual. First, I did the "cross process" treatment, then reduced the saturation to about 30% or so.
What do you think? I think now it says "vintage kitchen on a summer afternoon" rather than "circus".
