Conversing about Converse All-Stars

When I was about 10 years old, I had two kinds of shoes on my wish list: pink and white and neon green high-tops like my sister had (luckily, I grew out of this one), and Converse All-Stars.  Back then I didn't even know what they were called, being a sometimes-welfare-kid running around barefoot with no concept of brand names except adidas (All Day I Dream About Selena?).  But I knew I liked them.

So, lucky for me, they're still around and still in style!  As a post-birthday treat for myself, and to replace my other shoes that are falling apart, I bought a pair.  You'd think I would have chosen turquoise or red or yellow, but I wanted grey.  So far, I love them!  They're so comfortable already.

Although maybe I'm not really cool enough to wear them since I don't call them "Chucks".

What about you?  Did you have a wish from childhood that you've indulged as an adult?  Or maybe there is something still on your list that you haven't gotten yet.  Next on my list: a horse.

  1. I love my Chucks! The first time I remember wanting them was in Jr High and I bought my first pair maybe 6 or 7 years ago. Now, when they fall apart from overuse, I just buy another pair as I don't want to live without them.

  2. Those are cute! They look great with your jeans. :) I'm sure there are things that I've wanted since a child, but I can't think of any right now. Maybe a laptop... I finally got one last year. :)

  3. They do look great. I"ve had a hankering for a pair of Converse for a couple of years now and I always think I like gray best too.

  5. So cute, Jo. I like the gray because they can transition into fall (damn, I'm sorry I said that word). My dream as a child was to dance - I didn't/couldn't dance. Now my husband and I are taking ballroom dance lessons, so I'm indulging in that fantasy. We have a long way to go before it's actually "dancing" though.

  6. They are very cute! Next year you need to tell your husband you want a pony. :D

I've always wanted black and white "serious" author photos. I've never had the guts to ask for them. So a week ago I finally went and had some done. I haven't seen the finished result yet! I'm hoping that I'll look all fiercely intelligent. LOL!
