Ali's Gap-tastic Cowl

I made this infinity scarf as a gift, and absolutely love it. My sister in law is lucky I didn't decide to keep it!  But it did only take 2 skeins of yarn and 3 days of knitting, so it wouldn't take me long to make one for me.  The pattern is a knock-off/improvement on an item that was once sold at Gap.

I truly am obsessed with knitting, I think.  I'm positively itching to start a project that I don't have the right size of needles for.  But I refused to go to Michael's on Boxing Day.  The only shopping I did today was a few groceries, and I did spend the kids' gift cards by ordering them some clothes online.

Do you shop on the busy-busy shopping days?  Boxing Day in Canada is like Black Friday in the US.  Except Black Friday makes more sense, since it's before Christmas when there's a purpose for the shopping.

  1. That is gorgeous! I know quite a few people who LOVE knitting but I haven't gotten into it myself. :) And we were out shopping today - spending a couple gift cards - and somehow, we were out shopping on Christmas Eve too... not sure why, as I don't like shopping, especially when malls are busy, but it was something to do together. We did catch some good deals today.

  2. Love the cowl, Jo. And no, I don't shop on Boxing Day - being English, it's always a family day with another meal and another gathering (my daughter and DIL were here for the day). Plus I worked in retail for a large part of my career - never understood the madness. Black Friday makes WAY more sense than shopping for stuff you don't need AFTER Christmas. Heading out to Staples today to get some stationary for some shower invitations that must get in the mail soon. Other than that, it's still Christmas at our house!!

  3. I was going to stop at Future Shop yesterday...then saw the bumper-to-bumper, snail's-pace traffic at South Edmonton Common and decided it could wait! Beautiful job on the scarf. ;-)

  4. Such a pretty scarf! I never used to shop on Boxing Day, but the last 2 years I've been up way before the rest of the family so I've headed out. And I picked up a few things we needed at awesome prices. Going when the stores first open (6:00 & 7:00) means I beat the crowds.
Saw you sharing at the All Star Block Party.
